Laser Hair Removal Q & A
Am I a good candidate for laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal — the process of using heated, laser technology to target hair follicles beneath the surface of your skin — both removes unwanted hair and prevents future growth. Laser hair removal treatment is for both men and women looking to remove hair from almost any body part, including:
- Face (particularly chin and upper lip)
- Bikini area
Really nice place. This was my first time here, I like how I didn’t have to wait long for my service (laser hair removal) to start. My technician was very nice and made me feel very comfortable throughout the process. I can’t wait to see the results and will give an update in the months to come. Katia P.

How does laser hair removal work?
Lasers can be used for a variety of aesthetic treatments. The lasers use pulses of infrared diode laser energy to gradually heat the hair follicles in the subdermal layer of your skin until they can no longer produce new hair. Dr. Singh uses unique IN-Motion™ technology and a patented DualChill™ treatment tip to ensure that the surface of your skin stays cool and comfortable. There is no need for messy numbing creams because this unique technology makes the treatment extremely quick and comfortable.
Elysium Aesthetics and Vein Care has a variety of lasers available to address hair removal for all skin types. So, no matter your skin color or type, we have a laser available to address your needs! The specifics of your laser hair removal treatment plan depend on various factors, including:
- The amount of hair being removed
- Size of the treatment area
- Body part
- Your skin type
What will the laser hair removal consultation be like?
Your treatment plan will be discussed and outlined with you, which includes how long treatment sessions will take and how many treatment sessions you need to achieve optimal hair removal results. Optimal results are achieved when you actively participate with feedback during each session as to how you feel your progression is.
During your laser hair removal consultation, you will also be given special instructions to help you prepare before the session. Feel free to ask all your questions to ensure a safe, effective, and comfortable treatment.
How can I prepare for laser hair removal?
Waxing, tweezing, plucking, epilating, bleaching, and any other treatment that affects the hair follicle should be avoided throughout the entire laser hair removal process. Clients should ONLY shave. We recommend shaving the area to be treated the day prior to your appointment.
Protect yourself from the sun and avoid tanning for at least two weeks before laser hair removal. Sun exposure can make your skin more sensitive to redness, swelling, inflammation, and further skin damage if treated with a laser.
On the day of your laser hair removal session, shave the hair on the selected area for treatment. Do not wear makeup or other skincare products to avoid any complications during the laser treatment.
What happens after laser hair removal treatment?
You can expect results from a series of relatively short sessions. Depending on the treatment areas, you can typically expect six treatment sessions that last 5-60 minutes (a lip to a full body). Often, many clients see results after the first session.
What is laser hair removal aftercare like?
Normally, there’s no downtime or recovery time after treatment. If you have any questions or concerns, you should contact the office immediately.
You should avoid exposing your treated skin to direct sunlight or any artificial tanning for one to two weeks after a laser hair removal procedure. You may experience some minor side effects, including swelling, redness, or discomfort, but they should subside within one to three days after treatment.
To reduce any discomfort after a laser hair removal session, apply a cold compress on the treated area.
If you need to shave again after the treatment, make sure the skin is not swollen, red, discolored, or painful. Do not apply lotion, perfume, deodorant, or any other product to the treated area. Avoid body scrubs to prevent irritating your skin.
